about

Here's a picture of me where I almost look like a professional.
I was probably thinking about pizza, though...

As you may have noticed before,

my name is Giada and I'm a UX Designer with 7+ years of experience in building digital products and experiences.

My main goal is to craft frictionless experiences to address real users needs.

About

Well, basically that's it, as you already read just above.

Oh, I see, if you're here it's because you want a deeper introduction of myself. Alrighty, then!

I'm a (proud) Millennial.
I know the correlation between a cassette tape and a pen. I've felt the frustration of not being able to surf the Web because my mother had to use the phone. I've experienced the trauma of the episode of Melevisione that was interrupted on September 11, 2001 (and if you're Italian, you know it as well). I know the pain of accidentally going on an Internet URL with your cell phone and running out of credit in like 1,3 minute. I lived through the era of phone rings and MSN, and I was there when they started removing phone booths from cities. And I could go on for hours.

I know you must be wondering, “but other than being the lamest generation ever, what does it mean?”.
It means that I have experienced firsthand the golden years of changing, the transition from the analog to the digital, and the whole evolution of a variety of technologies. I know what was in style years ago and why it could no longer work today. Just like I have come to understand and recognize what might be intuitive for users and what would become too complicated or cumbersome.

Of course, I don't have a crystal ball, so I can't predict everything – or else, I would have bought Apple stocks 20 years ago. But hey, the job of a designer is really about trying, testing, recalibrating, retrying and continuously improving, is it not?

That's precisely what I'm most passionate about in my job: the constant, never-ending trying and refining in pursuit of that (almost) unreachable level of perfection, with the purpose of improving the lives of people who benefit from these products, services or experiences. And this is also where I always give my best, and where I've found my ikigai.

Wait, what?! Why are you still here reading?! I have nothing else to say!

... oh, alright. If you reaaaally want to know...

Buckle up, here's me in a nutshell with a few weird facts:

  • I'm addicted to everything that is related to Japan. I've been there just once, but I'm kinda obsessed. Traditions, food, places, anime and manga, just name it. And speaking of manga, never ask me which are my favourite titles. You couldn't stand me blabbering for hours like that.
  • I know all the dialogues from The Lord of the Rings movies, by heart. Even the ones in elvish. And yes, I'm able to find the perfect catchphrase for every occasion. Yes, every single one. Try me!
  • The point above also applies to Aldo, Giovanni e Giacomo's movies (did I mention that I'm a Millennial from Italy?).
  • I would be able to spend weeks just binge-watching TV series and movies. Well, maybe some pizza and french fries could be required, at a certain point.
  • I come from the region Emilia-Romagna and I take the difference among tortellini and cappelletti veeeeery seriously.
